The Foreign Domestic Worker (FDW) levy is a monthly fee imposed by the Singapore government on employers of domestic helpers. It is not a salary paid to the helper but a separate cost that goes to the government. Key Points About the Levy: Standard Levy Rate: The current standard monthly levy is $300. Concessionary Levy Rate: Eligible families can enjoy a reduced levy of $60 per month. This includes: Households with young children (under 16 years old), Elderly family members (65 years and above), Persons with disabilities. How to Apply for Levy Concession: You can apply for the concession through the MOM website, under the “Levy Concession” section. How to Make Payment: The levy is automatically deducted from your designated GIRO-linked bank account every month. Ensure sufficient funds are available to avoid late payment penalties. Late Payment Penalty: A late payment may result in a $20 penalty, suspension of work pass privileges, and potential revocation of the maid’s work permit.
